Thursday Inspiration!

Hello Prickley Pear Fans!
We are happy to have you here today for another edition of Thursday Inspiration with the Design Team.

Before we get to our projects, I want to let you know that this blog will be mighty busy starting January 23rd, as Prickley Pear celebrates our first New Release of 2017.
Come on back every day next week to see the beautiful new options available!

We have a lovely mix of creations on today's post.

Kelly takes us to the sky with Hot Air Balloons. This is a great option for those who like versatile sets! This plane makes for great masculine options, but the other images in the set can have a feminine spin, or add sweet touches to your backgrounds.

Michelle has also given us a "in flight" option, with a dog-gone cute spin for Valentine's day. This is Winged Heart with the Dogs Leave Paw Prints sentiment. Also used on this creation is Blobby Flowers 2 and the matching die (these are on my wish list!).
Michelle clearly has her head in the clouds this week, as her second card also takes wing with Birds on a Wire. I love the serene feel of this beautiful card. Sentiment is Heaven & Nature.

Speaking of nature, Heidi has taken the Day of the Dead Skull clear set and given it a celebratory wreath of flowers. Looking for that sentiment? It's a shortened version of Live, Dance, Laugh

Heather has also featured flowers with the Mini Hibiscus die set. This die cut is a fantastic addition to your craft room for a fantastic price. Also used in this project is the Coffee Cup Clear set and I have to point out that the Scalloped Circle Die on this project is also quickly becoming a huge favorite.

Hang on to your scroll button for one final projects this week. Heidi has this adorable Valentine cupcake card from the Build a Cupcake set. I spy a Prickley Pear mini butterfly in this creation too.

All these great sets and more can be found in the Prickley Pear store.Be sure to follow Prickley Pear on Facebook for even more inspiration and all the latest news.

Don't forget about the New Release, starting January 23rd at Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps!

Designer Highlight! with Heidi Erickson

Happy Thursday, Prickley Pear Fans!

It's time for another Designer Highlight and this week Heidi is back with one of her fabulous creations.

Let's see what Heidi's been crafting this week:

Hello everyone!  I hope to inspire you to create other fun projects that go beyond paper.  I love to make cards and sometimes going beyond my comfort zone can be a challenge. I had this little lunch tin for several years and decided it was time to start creating.
Here is my creation for the week!

Challenge #1 for this project was the white tin. How do I cover it?  I dusted off my alchohol inks that I had stashed in a drawer. Here, I've used Eggplant, Sailboat Blue and Purple Twilight Adirondack Alcohol Inks. Using a ink applicator and felt pad, I dropped 3 - 4 drops of each color onto the felt. Then I added some of the blending fluid to the felt and started daubing the ink directly onto the surface of the tin.  I did need to re-apply ink to the applicator and repeat 2 times.

Once the ink was dry, (it dries very quickly) I started to decorate. I cut two strips of paper 1 3/4" x 11 and stuck them together end-to-end with ScorTape. I wrapped it around the tin and cut off the extra length of the strip that I didn't need.  I adhered it using more ScorTape around the top and the bottom of the strip of paper.  Once the strip of paper was around the tin, I cut two lengths of the lacy border die to attach to the bottom of the strip. The top edge seemed bare, so I lined the upper edge with 3/8" ScorTape and added Elizabeth Craft MicroFine Purple glitter, rubbing the glitter into the tape strip to make it sparkle!

The one thing I love about Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps is their great selection of Butterflies and Flowers!  These come as clear stamps with several images of flowers or butterflies and different designs. The matching dies often go with multiple stamp sets, so you get good value for your money. For this project I used the small Hibiscus flower from the Hibiscus 2 clear set and the matching die. I also used the large butterfly image from the Dragonflies 2 set and the matching butterfly die.

All images were colored with Copic Markers and my Sakura Clear Gelly Roll pen added some glittery accent.

I hope you are inspired to find something laying around your place that is calling out to be decorated...and start creating!
Be sure to check out the Prickley Pear store for more Butterfly and Flower my opinion, they are versatile "must haves" for your craft room! Check out these great options!

Butterflies Clear set and matching die

Or perhaps you prefer the small butterflies of the Mini Butterflies 2 clear set and Mini Butterflies die.

Here are the mini butterflies again with Flowers clear set and the Bunny with Daisy stamp (red rubber)

The Flowers clear set also comes with these tiny, versatile flowers (paired with Mini Birds clear set and Birdcage die set)

Finally, this card highlights another flower style (Poinsettia clear set) and the great foliage options (Leaf Die Set).

Thanks for stopping by today. Remember, more great inspiration can be found on our Facebook page.

Thursday Inspiration!

A Happy New Year to all the Prickley Pear Fans!
I hope your celebrations were wonderful and you are ready to step into 2017 with enthusiasm. We hope you are ready to get inspired with these fabulous projects from the Prickley Pear Design Team.

I call today's post "Coffee, CAS and Moonlight". Here we go!

Donna has greeted the new year brightly with Gnome Homes Clear Set and the matching Gnome Home die set.

Sharon striking black and white contrast features the recently released Giant Tree and Kindness is Like Snow sentiment.

Katie is up next with the Coffee Cup Die Set
The wonderful sentiment in this card comes from Riley & CO and is called Prison Orange is Not My Color.

Katie's second project this week also uses the Coffee Cup Die Set, but also incorporates the matching Coffee Cup Clear Set
Her beautiful heart background was made by carefully stamping the coffee bean image. Fantastic!

Sharon starts off the moonlight scenes part of today's post with Owl & the Moon. I just love this adorable image!

And our last inspiration today comes from Donna, who has also featured a moon on her card, along with the Weeping Willow image. The sentiment is from the Butterflies clear set.

I hope you enjoyed this week's Coffee, CAS and moonlight post. We'll be back next week with a Designer Highlight, you have to come back to find out. See you then!

Designer Highlight-Angji Pruente!

Hello everyone! It is my pleasure today to be the designer featured on the latest edition of Designer Highlight. I do hope you enjoy my projects and come away inspired to get out your Prickley Pear stamps and dies!

I have been crafting for almost a decade now. It all started when a friend who scrapbooked convinced me to make Christmas cards one year. After that, I jumped head first into this hobby and haven't looked back since! I started working for Tanya at Riley & CO a few years ago when she had a brick and mortar store and really enjoyed it. When Tanya (aka Head Moose) asked me to be her Design Team Coordinator for her new company, Prickley Pear, I jumped at the chance! The rest, as they say, is history.

For my project today, I chose to make an explosion box. I have always wanted to make one and once I had the idea of using the Build a Cupcake set with matching Cupcake Die set, it was a no brainer!

After assembling the box and stamping and coloring the cupcakes the rest was easy. All I had to do was die cut the cupcakes and embellish. The Large Flourish die made it quick and easy to add some depth to my cupcakes. Finish the images with Wink of Stella clear glitter and Crystal Lacquer and I called this project done!

Here are a few more of my recent projects to tickle your inspiration.

I hope you enjoyed this edition of Designer Highlight! Be sure to follow Prickley Pear on Facebook for even more inspiration!

Until next week,

Designer Highlight! Sharon Smith!

Hello everyone! It is my pleasure to bring you another edition of Designer Highlight. This time I get to introduce you to the wonderful Sharon Smith and her gorgeous projects. Take it away Sharon!

Hi, I am blessed as I am a stay at home Mom who loves spending time with my family. I have 2 great kids and 2 fur babies! I am married to my best friend who is my enabler when it comes to my craft addiction.  I have been a crafter for many years and have always loved making things. My card making started during my maternity leave after my son was born 17 years ago, but after a short period of time I had to stop. I then met my current husband and he encouraged me to start again, I invested in stamps (as well as lots of other paper crafting goodies) and have never looked back.

I am Sharon and am so happy to be part of the Prickley Pear Rubber Stamp design team,
I am passionate about my card making as everyone that knows me personally will tell you! I love nothing better than spending the time I have away from my family in my favorite room of the house, my craft room, with my dogs curled up alongside me, music playing and a marker (or scissors, dies, paper etc) in my hand. My other favorite past time is photography so I love combining these by taking photos of what I make and sharing on social media.

Today my makes are being showcased over on the Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps blog. I have made a couple of new designs as well as all my previous makes
First of all is a candle and box I have decorated using the stunning Christmas stamps.

And here's how I did it:
I stamped and heat set the Ornate Tree and Snowflake Border images using a metallic silver ink onto white tissue paper. I then carefully cut around the images and laid them on a plain white candle. I wrapped parchment paper around this and heated with my heat gun. This causes the top layer of the candle to melt and the tissue paper sinks into this. once cooled the image looks as though it has been stamped onto the candle.
I added some crystal gems to the stamped image and some silver gossamer ribbon around the base to balance the design out.

For the box I made a box the same size as the candle from pearlescent white card. I then matted the lid of this with silver card. Using embossing ink I stamped the Ornate Tree onto a white piece of card along with the Celebrate the Season sentiment both from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps. I then added a silver tinsel embossing powder and heat set this. I added some of the same crystal gems to match the candle and then matted this onto the lid of the box.

A stunning gift for someone over the holiday period.

As part of my showcase I also made a very simple Christmas card using the Little Drummer Boy stamp.

I stamped the sweet little fellow in the bottom corner of a piece of white card. He was then colored using alcohol markers. I used a fine line pen to add a border to the card and a gold die cut star just finishes off the image. This was then matted onto a snowflake patterned kraft card and gold card as used for the star.

Here are a few more projects I created for Prickley Pear.

Didn't Sharon do a fantastic job??? I love her clean and graphic style! I hope you enjoyed this edition of Designer Highlight as much as I did!

Until next time,
